Default 32v cam seals

I'm changing the cam seals on my '85 and noticed the new ones were different from the ones on it. The new ones came in a gasket set I bought a while ago but I never put two and two together because they look different from what is already on the car. The updated version requires a separate "arm" to go over the seal which is now an actual cap rather then an o-ring. I will say, the newer design look like it's less prone to leaking as the actual seal now is one piece rather then the older two-part design. I'm just wondering when this change was made since all 6 of the existing seals on my car are the older design.

The top picture is the newer seal. Yours appears to be missing the arm however. The bottom picture shows the seals I've been removing today since they do a better job of pouring oil onto the exhaust then actually sealing.
