Welcome Tom! As you can see from my comments a few posts above, I really like that car and wish I could have been in the running. Perhaps I can see it in person someday and get a picture taken with my GT. Two rare reds side by side.

At the price you're paying, I would think something would have to be major wrong for it to be a bad deal. If it has no damage/flood history, all the numbers match, and just needs deferred maintenance brought current, you should have no problem bringing it to pristine condition and still not be in it for more than it's worth.

Be sure and do a search on thrust bearing failure, and get it checked for forward migration of the driveshaft. There are plenty of posts in the archives on how to do this inspection and relieve the pressure if necessary. This is the main concern of the later generation automatic equipped cars. Of course, the timing belt and water pump time/mileage since last replacement should be a high priority as well.

Best wishes for you and your new GTS.

Nice catch Tom.

Shane, there is an even better one about to show up on the market, keep your eyes open.

Better color-wise, condition-wise, or price-wise?

I can only say it will be even more appealing to Shane and at a VERY attractive price.

You mean it's an 86.5?

It was the color that had me bidding more than anything else.

The only thing better than that Rasberry Red is Velvet Red like Jarrods' GT.

I still have plenty of work to do to my '86.5s but I told my wife that when the right shark comes along I'm going for it. That GTS was one of them...

Congrats Tom in Austin... Luck to you on your new purchase!!
