Default Restrictor in high pressure power steering hose?

I was wondering if anybody knew why this was here? Was the restrictor there for noise control? Road feel? Pressure? Ive got a ( actually John does ) rebuilt p/s hose and there's no restrictor. I want to buy it from him and install it but didnt know what to expect. Anyone do this yet?
TIA

Hi Justin,

I had my hose rebuilt and the restrictor removed a year and a half ago. It works just fine with out it, I can't really tell the difference.

Where is this restrictor located , I did a steering pump on my 86.5 and didn't see what you are taking about.

Half way down the pressure hose, looks like a rubber puck.
