I can't remember exactly , but I think the boot needs to be down all the way on the throttle body first and then maneuver the intake tube into it. It has something to do with the initial position of the rubber boot before trying to slide the intake piece in.

What kind of pressure environment is involved here? Mine seems to involve an air/oil mixture . What PSI? What is max ambient temp in this area? 400? Did you get your clamps tightened back up, or is it not necessary?

I have fiddled with every combination of boot position, installation order and manipulation I can come up with. Literally, three hours, a break and two more hours and I cannot even come close. I DO NOT want to get into the gas rails and injectors - this car is already somewhat of an albatross when it comes to the wife . She has only seen it on jackstands, I can't go another week ordering stuff and whatnot. This step is all that stands between me and a driveable car, I don't want to add fourteen more steps and two more parts orders.

My thinking now is about how to get these two pipes sealed back together, with, or without the boot.
