Same result for street driving for less money - Yes, on 32v cars for sure. Beyond that, is there a reason why we don't see many SCers at the track?

With any conversion or rodding - "It's the Quality, Stupid!". If the job isn't high quality it inevitably makes a bad thing worse. If the job is high quality, then the result can hope to be judged on more complex merits. For classics and near classics reversibility is a big issue.
I was going to do a 5 liter Ford in my FHC XKE, but that job really can't be done right as the engine sits high in the early cars (or looks high, or is too close to the rails). If it can't be done right, then I think all agree it shouldn't be done. Get something else before you start wrecking stuff.
