Default color emblems of wheel caps

I noticed that some of you folks with torque twist (or whatever they're called); have colored porsche shields on the caps. My don't have any color. Is it a decal? is it just worn off, or is it a special cap?

If they are the ones I'm thinking about they are emblems not decals. The emblems are some times tacked on the center cap and other times just glued into the wheel cap. If they are tacked, you can remove the back side with a drill to remove the blob on the back that secures the emblem. Just be careful not to drill too far through the enmblem. I have popped them out and touched up the red and black paint. I use Testors clear red and Testors black. I have restored some tired looking caps with fresh paint and they looked great.

do you mean Turbo Twist wheels? If so, I used the OEM caps and painted per Tonys method:

Mine came painted. If you search e-bay, you can find any style/color you want.

Most center caps have the Porsche crest embossed. Then, some are painted in black, some in full color.

yea, mine are embossed, just no color. looks like it would be hard to paint the edges of the lions and the lines

Yes, that's beyond my skill. FYI, take a look at the new wheel thread that got started by Rsky Biz tonight, it shows several caps. There was a guy that used to sell hand painted caps on ebay for pretty reasonable-don't know if he still does. But, I think if you do a bit of checking around, you'll find painted caps are available. It seems they're about $50 each, IIRC.

thanks, but I'm probably not going to spend 200 bucks of wheel caps when I have perfectly good ones.

my co-partner on the car (my daughter) is a very good and meticulous craftsperson. I've already consulted with her. She says she can do it with the paint pencils. I'll post pictures after she finishes.

I assume I can just pop the caps out, maybe with a flat head screw driver right?
