Default First time on the track with my 928 (Eagles Canyon Raceway)

We had a great time today. We had the opportunity for our monthly 928 GTG, and then to go for a N. Texas drive to a great BBQ lunch, and then a trip over to the new (not open yet) Eagles Canyon Raceway.

We had a number of Sharks in attendance, as well as your normal assortment of twin turbo Ruf's, 911 turbos, Lambo Countach's, GT3's, Ferraris, etc., that we normally see on the roads in Dallas. Yawwwwnnnnn.

We were able to make a number of laps of this new 2.55 mile course, which is actually getting formal FIA approval. Since my 911 is my focus when it comes to a track car, I viewed this as an opportunity to get my 928 out on a circuit, as I doubt she'll see much track time. She did pretty well, and the automatic is effective when shifting, surprizingly so. I was able to work 2nd and 3rd pretty well. I was pleased with the way I would downshift with a combo of gear selection and throttle blips. We probably ran 7/10's most of the laps, and maybe saw 8/10's on occasion....

Here are a few assorted pics of the trip on the way to the track and the layout of the track:

Great shots Ed. Ang was pretty teared up when her camera crapped out. It's her baby and was looking forward to getting some great running shots today. It's still got her upset.

Other than that, it was a great time. The "parade" laps were driven a lot harder than we drove the 1st trip out there, and then, we were on our own. Following Linda in her Ferrari was a grand time. She really get's in to it. We had the S4's tail scooting out quite often and pulling some really fast turns. I think the back straight we hit 110 before backing off. This was on the "warm up laps"

I really need to update my rear shocks, after taking a drive in Kevins 996, my car really felt like a fast sofa. I only did 5 laps, got to thinking about how much tires cost and didn't want to tear the car up.

Great time with some great people.

Yeah, well just tell her it has me upset too.

Joking, of course. Hope it's fixable?

I cannot believe you caught that mobile traffic light -- when it was green!

I only made it because I ran the damn thing. If everyone had just gone it would have been smooth and noone would have cared.

BTW, I love that avatar.

You folks had Canadians down there?

Yellow 911 has an Ontario front plate.

Need a nice car trailer for my truck. Then I could haul the car through the residual winter.

Looks like it was a blast; how did the Lambo do compared to the 928's? Looks kinda old in the pics.

We really didn't contest anything with the Lambo. He was a pretty nice guy.

Fun Times! FM 455 had some good turns but nothing like the track at Eagle Canyon. Enjoy the pix!

Great pics! Nice to see the old-school Lambo out there. Not really digging the green color of the Ruf. Good Shark turn-out!

Ed I'm not sure I feel comfortable having a hothead like you on-track (see avatar)
