Seat back Swap
I'd like to swap the seat backs of the GTS. They are 12 way comfort. Is this a huge project? Any write ups out there? I've looked at the Nichol's site but the directions may not help[ with 12 way seats.

I have swapped the seat backs on an 85. It was not a big deal. When I looked to do the same thing on the 88 seats in the convertible I ran into a problem, but I can not remember what it was.
The seat backs come off easy enough. There is a square pin that has to be removed first and then they just unbolt. The wiring harness for the seat back runs down under the back of the seat bottom upholstery, but can be threaded through.
Ah, now I remember. The driver's seat had memory and the passengers did not. The sensors are in the seat for the memory. If I was to swap seat backs I would have lost the memory portion of the system. If you have memory on both sides then you can get aerway with the swap. If not the wiring will not work out - and with the memory controller there is a lot of wiring to deal with. Having added the memory controller and memory mirrors and seats to an 86, I do not say this lightly.
The seat backs are tilted by a square pin inset on the pivot point. You will see that after removing the side cover. There is a hex screw - 3MM I think. Remove it and then push the square pin into the seat. Remove the two bolts on both sides and the back should come off.
If you seats are different, you can still get at the problem by swaping the skins of the seats. Of course by the time you pay an unpholstery person to swap the skins you could have had the pad seat panels replaced.

I have memory on both seats. I may go ahead and do the swap.
