Default Door *ding, ding, ding* Interior sound question.

Hey guys. Exams are almost over. Miss me?

Haha. Anyway, the past couple of nights that I drove the Porsche it seems that the *door open ding-noise-thingy* is starting to lose pitch and go nuts. It used to only do it once in awhile, but now it's normal for it to sound like a dying walrus when my doors are open or lights are on.

I searched the forums looking to see what others have done (if anyone has) and all I came across was some *snip snip* of the tiny speaker.

Well... I don't want to get rid of it. In fact, I'd like to update it to sound a little more modern, if it were possible. I'd like to keep the feature. I'm just **** with the car and want everything working in it.

So any idea where I could purchase one? Any suggestions? Thanks!

Mine sounds about the same on my '86.5. Sometimes is ok other times not. Might try unplugging and plugging back in. It is located under front of consul near the back of your radio. Not sure if you can remove it and leave out. I think I received 2 or 3 in a box of relays I bought from ebay.

Why would you like to have anything as annoying as that sound? If you are concerned about orginality I can tell you this is a US feature and the "original" design is without it.

My girlfriends 951 (California import) had this "dong dong dong" relay and it almost made her crazy so we just cut the wire (but in a place it would be possible to repair just in case).

Umm... What? I think this is a universal thing. I may be wrong... but every car I have ever driven in europe has always had that "oops-I-left-my-lights-on-or-possibly-even-the-doors" feature.

It's not annoying. I need it, and I need it fixed.

But thanks!

Sorry, if it's for the lights only I agree it's a good thing! But my girlfriends 951 made this loud noise when she opened the door with the engine running. According to diagrams this is a US "option" and I remember reading that all cars had to do that in USA. We just got home from USA, and the rental car did the same thing.

I can't see any use for that other than to bug you to not pollute by annoying you each time you try to get out of the car when it's idling?

Ha ha hilarious! Maybe I should sneak it into my grifriends telephone as a wake-up alarm? She will probably smash her phone if I do so...
