Default GTS manual gearbox oil pump into automatic differential

Previous discussion in here:

Been planning on trying this for a while now as have both '92 MY GTS manual gearbox and automatic differential dismantled at garage. I haven't found out anything why it wouldn't be possible to install oil pump to automatic diff even though Porsche says its not doable. Did trial fit today and it fits exact same way as into manual box.

Pump inside manual gearbox.

Manual gearbox end plate and oil pump on automatic differential.

For comparison inside of automatic diff with end plate installed.

Pump pickup showing from automatic diff drain hole. Emptying hole need to be blocked and magnet plug installed into manual end plate hole so that metal do not collect into pump pickup. That is really only minor issue I can think of.

Comparison of diff housings. Automatic diff has old style breather system with cast slot at the top center. Manual GTS has simple hole for breather at top of casing.

Manual end plate at left, automatic at right. Automatic plate still has position for speedo pickup in casting while there is no mounting hole for small bolt which keeps pickup in place. Manual end plate should work with old style breather as that part of the plate is similar to automatic part.

Pump mounted on end plate with one of three mounting bolts.

Closeups of manual end plate. Oil exit hole at top corner with thread for hollow bolt.

Check valve mounting point inside end plate.

Pump mounting points and oil exit hole into cover channel leading to top corner.

Check valve, pump and screen.

Pump gears inside. Looks really simple and reliable design as long as nothing large gets in.

Eventually I'll be testing if pump really fits into automatic diff. Porsche must play safe when they say it doesn't fit.

I believe there isn't any difference in '90-91 MY at least as all PSD automatic diffs have same housing. Most likely pump will also work in earlier 4sp auto housing too as end plate is same. It will depend on of there is space for pump pickup at bottom or not.

Not sure about 3sp.
