I owned by '90 C-2 Cab for 5 yrs... owned two different '85 928s over barely 3 yrs. As great as my 911 cab with tiptronic was, I have to say, for me, a 928 is just so much more special a car to own!

I know that was what the script said, and that you were only noting it. I guess I was responding to the smiley’s you added. Maybe I was lumping you into the fairly regular comments snubbing the 911.
HEHEHEH…Ed, I’m used to being “lumped”...and guilty as charged, I’m SMILEY WEAK.

I like many of the 911 examples but again, my preference is the 928, especially on long hauls. I believe there is more discord from the 911 owners in accepting the 928 vs. the opposite. The facts are the VW was the embryo for the 911 and the 928, yes TOTO, and has a front engine V8.

For those debate starved enthusiasts that need the facts as pertaining to the "Bones of Contention" as written in Wikipedia:
(Disclaimer...yes I know that is an edited forum)

911
The 911 was developed as a much more powerful, larger, more comfortable replacement for the Porsche 356, the company's first model, and essentially a sporting evolution of the Volkswagen Beetle.

928
Several drive train layouts were considered during early development, including rear and mid-engined designs, but most were dismissed because of technical and/or legislative difficulties. Having the engine, transmission, catalytic converter(s) and exhaust all cramped into a small rear engine bay made emission and noise control more difficult, something Porsche was already facing problems with on the 911 and wanted to avoid. After deciding that the mid-engine layout didn't allow enough room in the passenger compartment, a front engine/rear wheel drive layout was chosen. Porsche also feared at the time that the U.S. government would ban the sale of rear-engined cars in response to the consumer outrage over the Chevrolet Corvair, started by Ralph Nader via his book "Unsafe at Any Speed".

But in keeping this thread on track; I still believe the video piece hit several good points and provides good information to new potential shark owners.

One last thing from me here....Who's disputing the VW being the embryo of the 911? Why is that seemingly stated as a bad thing?

By the process of logic, the 928 shares the embryo of the VW. If the VW didn't give way to the 356, and then the 911 with the success it has had.....over 40 years now, BTW, the 928 wouldn't have been built.

X 1,000,000!!!!!!

I don't usually get angry about tv shows...but that remark about it not being a car for girls actually pissed me off. Some of the sexiest vehicles on the road ever are "not for girls"???? WTF???

I don't remember ever seeing this show...is it not shown in the States?

*Over engineered, under speck’d and very very under valued.
*Designed very tight, no squeaks.
*Clean sheet design....Porsche spent 30 yrs. to get the 911 right
*928 is one of the best handling cars of its generation.

That would be a good video to stick and have on hand for those looking to find their first shark. I'll see if I can't chase down the producing party.

But his best comment…”stupidly cheap for a car this good”
Uh, I believe he said "over engineered, over spec'd, and very, very undervalued."
