Default Anyone have an RMB they'd like to sale?

Before I go off and pay full price for a new one I thought I ask here first. I'm not too proud for second hand. I was going to add an RMB to my tune-up parts order, but then saw the grand total for everything, so if I can go second hand for the RMB that would be great. Thanks.

Sometimes they are up on ebay. Or call the Big 2 and see if they have any used ones for sale.

I may not know what RMB is, But i know A guy that parts lots of 928's.. when you are looking for a parts increase your chances of finding it by making the ad so everyone will know what you are talking about. Im not trying to be an *** here. just some advice to increase your chances of getting what you want.

I've got a "slightly" bent stainless RMB you can have if you think you can straighten it out. You can see the amount of bentness on my previous post here. Roger says a little Viagra will straighten it right out but I don't have the level of expertise that he does in that field. Let me know if you want to try it and I'll PM you a cost for packaging and shipping.

Mike, thanks for the offer. I'll have to pass though. I don't have what's needed to straighten the pipe. Thanks.

Mike, How much for it? I think I can make it right.

Woody, that would be awesome and I would be indebted to you. Hope things have been good for you. We haven't talked since that PCA race last summer. Thanks again.

While 'used' RMBs may not be for sale there's many lying in garage corners gathering dust waiting for the results of the new Motorsports mid mufflers and X combo. If the sound is somewhat more controlled than the OEM resonators I believe the RMBs shall be re-fitted.

Maybe the subject for a poll-- How many RMB's have been purchased and installed, only to be removed due to noise issues?

I had the opportunity to stick my head into a 16v car with (I think) Borla exhaust. Loud, too loud for me, and that was sitting still with no load on the engine. After living through several mid-motor cars with a few miles of cam chains, big carburetors or throttles right behind my head, and no room for quiet exhaust back there, I am way happy with how relatively peaceful the stock exhaust is on my S4. Just driving on the freeway this morning running an errand, I could tell every throttle movement from the 'listen to me' exhaust on the 'compact sport truck' in the next lane as I cruised by quietly. Then when he tried to keep up on the decreasing-radius exit ramp, all kinds of other noises spewed out of his truck too. I was just saving the brakes for something important, yer onner! Quiet is faster, at least in this neighborhood.

Bob..........in my personal case, and I believe most others, the RMB was just great with the rest of the system stock including the cats. When I removed the cats and replaced then with the Motorsport X sans cats the exhaust system was then too loud hence the RMB was replaced with the stock rear muffler.

My car is fitted with the smaller resonators so I'm hoping that the new Motosports mid mufflers quieten the note sufficiently to re-install the RMB to re-enjoy the sound and the removal of the dead weight of the OEM.

What I'm looking for is a system that enjoys the performance upgrade of the X with the look and weight savings of the RMB with a mid muffler that brings the sound back to stock w/ a RMB.

That to me would be ideal............YMMV.
