Thumbs up for SEM leather "dye"!
My console had a real nice dual cup holder mounted by the P.O., but I didn't like it in the way of my elbow, so I finally took it off. After scrubbing to get the adhesive off (with no physical damage to the leather), I did lose quite a bit of the pigment, and ended up with a bleached look. I used SEM #17093 GMC Black Classic Coat, and put on three coats yesterday. The results are very pleasing. This is the first time I've ever colored leather, and I'm amazed at how it turns out. Now, on to the "test of time"....

Where did you get it? I need to do the same to mine.

Sean: I got it @ English Supply (automotive paint shop) down on Walnut just west of Harry Hines. I scrubbed the leather with some Lexol cleaner, and then used another SEM product, which is really a degreaser to clean it first. You're welcome to use my stuff, I barely put a dent in the cans....
Mike: Just some of the niggling stuff in prep for SITM. Gotta look good, you know!

Ed, I was thinking the same thing as Randy, but of course, he beat me to it. But, I was also thinking that this job probably was made much easier with the adult beverage also in the pic!

What are you going to do with the old cup holders?

BTW, so a google search for SEM, you can find local retailers on their site. They seem to sell thru auto paint stores mostly.

It appears to have been a success. When I use SEM, I have used a light grey scuff pad just prior to spraying, per SEM's advice. It probably insures a better bond. I did it to my steering wheels and 12- 14 months later it is still looking and feeling good (I put on around 20,000 miles per year). The coat on one wheel, peeled a bit when I scratched it with a metal key but that is an unusual case.
