Default Q: 2-piece drilled rotors for a GTS?

Over the next couple months, I am plan to install the big reds & drilled rotors on my GTS my wife bought for me several years ago. I like the look of the 2-pc rotor and would like to know if anyone makes them for the GTS. I have seen them on several S4/GTs. Anyone know if they are available for the GTS? TIA.

Chuck, I thought I remembered seeing these somewhere... Devek catalog from years ago, IIRC.

So, I just pulled out an old Devek catalog (from a few years back; I couldn't find a date on it, just "Catalog Volume 3" on the cover) and on the Brake Performance Upgrades page, it includes:

2-Piece Rotor/Hat Upgrade 86.5-95

You can significantly reduce the unsprung weight in the front of your S4, GT, or GTS by approx. 4 lbs. per corner with our 2-piece combo next time you replace front brake rotors. Our custom hats are precision machined from 2024 aluminum (just like the ones for GT1 racers), and the slotted rotors are internally balanced.
  • 87-91 2-piece rotor/hat, pair DVK.351.S4 $645
  • GTS 322 mm 2-piece rotor/hat, pair DVK.351.GTS1 $675
  • GTS 330 mm 2-piece rotor/hat, pair DVK.351.GTS2 $680
This indicates slotted (doesn't say anything about cast-holed, though). I don't know if that helps, but it indicates that at least at one time, there was someone making something close to what you're looking for.

Chucky,

DR has the 2 piece hat/rotor for the fronts. The rear rotors will be Zimmerman (cast holed) and you'll want to paint the hats to match the front 2 piece units.(They are one piece, not 2, but they will look pretty close if you paint the hats black to match the front) Roger Tyson here in DFW Land has rapainted his black calipers red, and essencially turned them into "Big Reds". He has access to the "PORSCHE" decals for the calipers as well.

Have fun!

Thanks Ed. Seems prices have come down some according to DR's site.

Hey CS! Thanks for the info. I have everything to make the switch, i.e., red front calipers, cast hole rotors, rear black calipers and high temp decals. I plan to paint the rear calipers red to match the fronts and apply the decals. You know me; I will keep all the stock parts as they are in case I or some future owner would want to put it back to stock.

If I cannot find a 2-pc rear rotor I will probably stick with the 1-pc on all four corners.

Thanks again guys.

C,

You'll save a few $ if you go one piece all the way around. Again, just make sure to paint the hats. The fronts (if you buy the one piece) will be painted that trashy looking battleship gray. The rears will be bare metal and they will start rusting immediatly.

We've had good luck here in DFW with Rustoleum Hammered paint. It has a slight textured (hammered) finish and will take up any imperfections and make them virtually go away. I have the black, Jim and Roger used Silver. I've had mine on for 2 years and I think they've got the same amount of time, but more miles. All 5 cars still look good and paint is holding on just fine.

The great thing is that you can use the brush-on formula, it goes on very easy (2 coats) and looks as though you sprayed it on. I took a very small brush and went very carefully around the wheel studs all the way up to the face of the rotor. The first time you apply the brakes, it will make a nice crisp line at the hat. Also, make sure to paint the vents as they are bare metal as well, otherwise you'll have rust flinging on to the inside of your wheels when they get wet after washing. (I know you're not driving that bad boy in the rain!!)
