Default Interior rehab and upgrades including Carpets, Leather, Lighting, and Electronics…

Thanks to all the inspiration and knowledge that can be garnered from this site, I have decided to perform a number of upgrades and modifications to my interior. In stead of beating around the bush, I’ve decided to do it all at once while attempting to stay within reason and budget.

Following is a list of items I intend on working in the next several weeks. There is no way I would have considered or even known about so many options if it weren’t for this site… for that I am grateful. Since I am a bit lazy, I’m hoping that posting my ambitions for all to see will help motivate this project while offering opportunities for others to help fine tune.

Yeah Yeah couple of weeks....

err... well you might want to start planning in months for that there list....

That is alot of stuff to do... I have done many of them and some of have individually taken me over a year to complete to my satisfaction (OK OK so I admit I'm a perfectionist - but still....)

Yea, its optimistic and took me quite some time as well to complete a similar list for my 82. Just know that this list of yours will grow before it ends. Best of Luck!

Wow - Kurt, it sounds like you're going to be busy for a while! But it'll be so much more fun to drive afterwards, when everything is perfect...

I know a few weeks was not really what I'm thinking either. Absolute drop dead dealine is SITM, but I really hope to have it done by sometime in April.

Not much to show yet... still in the dismantling stage. I hope to have the rest out this weekend. Then start on the stereo wiring and Raamat. Hans is going to stop by to help out and give me some pointers.

Should be fun...

First question, do you think these seats are good Candidates for Leahterique? I’m a little worried about the piping. If it doesn’t come out good enough, I found a local shop that will replace all piping for $300. Does that sound about right. If I go this route, I’m switching to black to add contrast.

If you're going to all of this trouble, what's an extra $300?

I'd do the contrasting piping, it will help set off all of your work.

Kurt,

I would try touching up the bolster with SEM first. There is a paint supply place down on Illinois, just north of 16th street. I think its called G&M or something like that, on the west side of the street. They custom mix SEM products, they also have the SEM leather putty if you think you need it. SEM can be sprayed on in very light coats to get a nice finish that wont hide the grain or run like other products can if not applied properly. If you need a hand, give me a call. I will be in town all weekend now.

You might be able to get the seats decent looking again with dye - but they won't be perfect. If you go the black piping route, don't forget to do the rear back rests also - otherwise you'll have a mismatched interior.

Kurt:

I expect these items to be completed before my arrival.

Also, let us know if, upon paying for your purchase at Radio Shack, you are asked if you need batteries.

Did a source for the correct size of electroluminescent panels pop up on Ebay again? If so, anyone have a link or Ebay seller name? The lighted sills are one of the things on my list as well.

Thanks for the tip... I'll definitely will do the front and back if I choose to go this route. The $300 quote was for all four seats. My biggest concern is will I like the results of recolored leather. If not, I'll have to save up and consult with Paul some more.
