Default rubber oil pan gasket coat with Oil, Rtv or nothing

Do I need to coat the rubber gasket with anything before install?

I put mine on dry.

Nothing - make sure the surfaces are clean and dry.
Use a couple of small zip ties to hold it in place through a couple or more of the holes as you bolt it up.

I prefer to hold my gaskets in place with weather stripping glue. Glue it to the pan and then install the pan with the gasket dry. If you use RTV or oil it will act as a lubricant and allow the gasket to extrude while tightening.

Please do not use any sealants or glue on these silicone gaskets. They must be installed dry. Oil Pan surfaces must be clean and dry and grease free for best results.

Makes the whole job so much easier if one is doing it solo ;-)
Matt... MMs and Sump Gasket job, using Roger's 928 Solid MMs and
silicone sump gasket on my '87 S4 Manual half way there ...
