I think higher is better. I bought a POS Chinese jack 15 years ago and when I finally got it to where the wheels wouldn't fall off, it's never failed me. Really heavy though.
Then a couple of years ago, I bought a smaller aluminum jack for taking with me places (track, etc.) and it's only been used about four times and no longer works (about $70). Acts like the seals have gone bad. I got it at Shucks. But I'll buy elsewhere next time. I thought Chinese quality was supposed to be improving?

Not too expensive, low profile, and should work well... Sometimes Pepboys or Autozone have sales on the good ones too...
Just stay away from the "Racing Jacks"... light weight isn't necessarily a good thing here. Luckily, you won't be "throwing it over the wall"!

The ones at Sams are pretty good. I also just got a 3 1/2 ton low profile (not Aluminum) for Walmart for like $65.. Needed the low profile, as a standard would't fit under the 951!

I have an old 2 1/2 ton Walker jack. I have had it for almost 30 years and have never even had to add fluid to it. Super low profile in the front but quite heavy. Paid 125 or 150 back then. They're now about 350. I think with jacks you get what you pay for. The inexpensive ones don't seem to last very long.
