Default stumped and need some help.

in need of your help, this is a three part question. Can someone explain to me what the color of the wires for the stereo do what. Ie. the thick red, thin red, brown, Green/brown and blue. Second part what does the little black box on the right of the transmission hub do, is that the alarm and finaly the little actutators that control the air flaps are they supposed to be hot to the touch, the fuse for the fresh air blower does not pop however the plastic housing for the fuse keeps melting. I was thinking that it might be something to do with the acutators.

I remember when I did the stereo swapout on my 928, I remember getting the pin out information from one of the websites that was selling the radios. Basically they sold adaptors to plug the new radio into the porsche factory harness. Knowing the new radio pin out and the harness specs I was able to back into the Porsche wiring harness.

Another place to look may be the wiring digrams from the serice manual.

(Wich I could be more helpful, but I think the person how sold me the radio was S & D stereo??? They were online and they specialize in the 928.

These are the color codes for the speaker wires. I don't have the color coding handy for the radio itself. Hope it helps.

Color/wiring scheme for the speaker configuration polarity and which wires run to which rear speaker sets
LF DOOR +BL -BR/BK, RF DOOR +BL/WT -BR/WT
LF DOOR MID +YE -BR, RF DOOR MID +YE -BR
LF DOOR HI +GN -BR , RF DOOR HI +GN -BR
L WOOFER +VI -BR/BK, R WOOFER +VI/WH -BR/VI
L CROSSOVER +GN -BR, R CROSSOVER +GN/WT -BR/WT
L REAR MID +VI -BR, R REAR MID +VI -BR
L REAR HI +GN –BR, R REAR HI +GN -BR/WT

First ignore anything that doesn't source from a Porsche loom or originally installed equipment (includes any wire splices butt connection or loose single wires snaking around - these are likely all aftermarket and could be anything & any color)

All Porsche Browns with no stripe are grounds
All porsche reds are + power - however the radio is tricky....
- identify the supressor in the console - looks like a transformer with only 3 connections. Power for the ignition switched head unit supply comes from here. The input direct from the switch (dedicated line ...and unfused!) is Red/Black, ground connection is brown and the supply to the radio for switched supply is the red wire 2.5mm^2 (medium thickness) Identify by source location and behaviour.

There is also a suppressor for the Booster (Amp) this is usually located under the passenger sill cover next to the booster. This feeds a thick red wire (4.0mm^2) direct to the booster and also a 2.5mm^2 medium thickness wire to the head unit as a filtered permanently on supply (locate by sourcing from a loom and function).

Thin red (1.0mm^2) is the booster(amp) trigger output from the headunit to the amplifier.

Thin White is the +supply to the antenna - feed this from a switched head unit output

Thin Brown/Green wires are for the positive & negative triggers for the radio alarm only one will be connected the other grounded. One of these normally connects to the radio mounting frame as an alarm source.

There is no variable illumination direct to the radio but there are connections in the console feeding the clock etc look for the Black/Blue wires to tap into.

Assuming you mean Body Color/Stripe Color in these color description then no I'm not sure what those are... may not be radio related - what do the connect to? or what other wires are they associated with (e.g. in same loom)?
