Carrera Wheels w/ Red Calipers
I have been admiring these 5 spoke carrera style 18" rims, which would really show off my new red calipers and drilled rotors.
Does anyone know about these, they appear to be replica wheels, but seem like a very good price for new wheels:

Randy V has a set of "real" ones on his car, so do a few other people. You should be able to find factory original wheels with tires for about $1,500 (or less) on eBay. I'm sure the replica wheel's are fine though.
Quite a few 928 Rennlisters (like myself) picked up the Carrera III wheels (the model after these) on ebay between $1,400 - $1,600 with new tires on eBay. The dealers were giving them away for a while. Word must have gotten out many pre 997 Porsche owners were going after them.

The link works and they will work on your car. It's all up to you on what you want to spend on the rims. The offset looks like it is good, and even gives you room to add spacers to the rears to bring them out a bit.
i'm running 55 offsets all around and added 17mm spacers to the rears with room to add more if wanted.

I think I like the older carrera wheels a bit better, as I like the look of the middle hub better. The same people have the newer style Carrera wheels too for $999.
I just bought new tires a few months ago, so just the wheels are needed.
I have spacers now, that were used with the turbo twists that are on the car now, but not sure of the size (I'll look at them to see if they are marked.
If someone has any pics of the newer style carrera wheels, please post them....I have seen pictures of the older carrera ones on several of our rennlister sharks...and I really like them on the shark!

One more thing on the offsets. The seller also has these with 65mm offset for the rear, would that mean that these would work on the back without using spacers (47mm plus 17mm spacer = 64mm???). The offset stuff really confuses me.......

Ah Ha...I am confused, or are you joking....I need the larger offset for the fronts, not the rears? Or both? Or are you suggesting 10" rims for the front (no thanks).
The ad shows 8" fronts with 50mm offset and 10" rears with 47mm offset, with an option for 65mm offsets...for the rear ones only.
My turbo wheels are 9" fronts now, but my tires will fit fine on the 8" rims (same size i have on the 993).

I now have the following:
Front - 18 x 9 with 52mm offset (per stamping on inside back of wheel);
Rear - 18 x 10 with 65mm offset (per stamping)
Rears also had a 17mm spacer
The wheels on ebay offer :
fronts 18 x 8 with 50mm offset
rears 18 x 10 with 47mm or option for 65mm.
Does this mean if I get the 47mm offset for the rears, I won't need the spacers I have now? The current wheels with spacer fit perfectly, just inside the fender lip with no rubbing.
With the different size fronts, going from 9" to 8", but the offset changing just slightly, what is that going to do? Since the new front wheels are more narrow, would that just mean that the outside edge of the wheels/ tires will be a little more narrow or further inside the fender?

Don't buy replicas, they are rubbish IMHO, I have genuine wheels, may have been the first with the 5 spokes too. They do look great with the red calipers, the fronts weigh 8 kgs and the rears weigh 10 kgs.
I am currently having them painted black, the wheels that is.

When I purchased a set of Carrera Lightweights I had the folloing offsets - the 18x8 had 50mm up front & the rear 18x10 had 65mm. Rubber will be Falken 512s’ 225/40/ZR18 F and 265/35/ZR18 R.
But I discovered that the rears needed to be brought out a little so I installed some 21mm spacers.
I think I paid about ~$1800 with the rubber.

FRONTS:
50mm ET(offset) is less than ideal. It is generally recommended that you have at least 55mm ET. The OEM Carrera III's are 57mm ET. The front wheels in the auction above will work, but when mounted will stick out slightly.
REARS:
Assuming a 275 tire, the 47mm ET should work perfectly. The 65mm would be too far inboard and may rub on the inside. Stock OEM wheel comes in 47, and 54 ET IIRC.
