I have the 944 CS rims on the 79. They fit and look great. The only complaint I have is they need to be wider for other than stock tire sizes.

Rats! Screwed on eBay again...only this time in public. What ARE these fake CS wheels good for then? If they've been machined down, then they may not be strong enough for reasonable use? Maybe they'd fit on my 968 and be OK? They do look "kinda/sorta" good in the fotos. I'll wait and see if they show up at all on my doorstep. The seller hasn't done a lot of business. Caveat Emptor applies here I'm afraid. Sometimes I'm eat up with dumb.

I know of a great set of D90s (forged) for sale but I think I'll channel my money into other parts for the car first and revisit the wheels at a later time when I can fondle them with my own hands. In the meantime I have a set of Cup1s with S03s that I'll use. Thanks for the soft let down.

Oh well...all may not be lost..the hub caps are worth something.

Harvey, are you not reading the posts?? The wheels you bought are not "machined down," they are standard flats with stickers (or paint) on 'em.

Man alive....I guess I'm still fooled. The fotos just look too good to a dummy like me. It's hard to believe that stickers could look that good...but in fotos I guess anything can happen. I was thinking the painting was in the background.

Thanks, Chaadster

No such animal that I'm aware of - all D90's are cast.
If the 'CS' wheels were falsely advertised, I hope you can get paypal to reimburse you.

You are correct, Sir.. These were from a 90 GT- very strong, light, & sharp!

The seller of the "custom" wheels and I came to a mutual agreement....he will not send me the wheels and will refund my $$, and I've agreed to pay him the $80 it would have cost him for shipping/handling. It's an $80 lesson...and right now I'm not interested in buying any kind of wheels. I need to calm down and take a good twisty drive in the really loud '85S.

Thanks all, for helping to save most of my ignorant rear end...or rather the top end.

I still think those are the nicest wheels "out there." Looks great on red also I notice. Nice car too.

Converting Flatdish to CS wheels thread

Here's a thread on machining the flat dishes, as Nic mentioned above.

BTW, I'm surprised this scammer's getting anything at all from the victim, though I guess he already had it. I use PayPal but fund it through a credit card. So far I've been lucky and not had to fight via a chargeback.

That's great! $80 is no big deal, and I bet you would have been really unhappy with those wheels, so you're "in the good."

I agree with you, BTW, that the CS wheel is the most handsome stock wheel for the 928. I think they still look good today, even with all of the up-sized wheels out there.

Good call holding out for the real McCoy!

If only lthey were 17"... It made such a difference from my previous GT with the 16-inch D90ies to the S4 with the 17 inch turbo twists.

The GT would spin its wheels in second gear sometimes, and would be so easy to get to its limit. The S4 is almost fool proof with the larger wheels. I have to do really stupid things to get it to lose its grip.

New vs old tires I would expect to see a big change in grip, but not from wheel size if it didn't change the size of the tires foot print. Or are you talking about GT vs S4?

Looks like the wheels have already been relisted on ebay.

Even a couple bids.

Default Yep...that's them

He lowered the price since he already has about half the price out of me. He said he'd change the descriptive wording but it doesn't appear too much different.

Converting Flatdish to CS wheels thread

Here's a thread on machining the flat dishes, as Nic mentioned above.

Despite the confusion you can't convert stock D90's to CS no matter what.

As you can see in the picture the design is totally differently with the cast D90's ribs attaching to the lower portion of the offset and the CS wheels attaching to the outer lip. The CS wheels were manufactured by Fuchs and there is a thread somewhere that shows the manufacturing of the older style Fuchs alloy. Even the 9 X 15 and 11 X 15's They used on the RS and RSR's were forged 100% without any machining of grooves or anything. Amazing technology for the time and the cost to make these today would be astronomical.

I don't know what this guy is selling but it is not a modified D90 from what I can tell.

First shot are D90's and the other 2 are CS
