S4 Wing Refinishing

S4 Wing Refinishing
One flip-up wing I have is in bad shape, and I mean BAD. Someone tried to buff it, I see heavy buff patterns, and they apparently buffed through the top shiny layer, revealing porous, holy, dull plastic beneath. What can I do? This is a flip-up wing. I know I can paint it, but I'd prefer not to. Can I restore it somehow to its shiny plastic glory?

Jim I was thinking there might be a replasticising process or some chemical plastic polymer one could spray it with..... somewhere there has to be a way to replasticise these things, this is such a rare beast. Were it a regular wing I'd paint it.

The wing was made in a mold. The surface texture was part of that molding process. You might as well be asking " Can I put new tread on my tires ? " Sure but how much does that machine/mold cost !

Totally off the wall idea, but heck, they can litterally shrink wrap boats and airplanes these days in a plastic that sits for years in the desert sun and heat. I wonder if you could "fill" the bad area to smooth it out..then litterally have the wing shrink wrapped and then painted with the same flex paint used on the bumper?
Again..pulling at straws with the idea.
Im not to sure how the wrap would do on the sharper corners?

Fully aware. Since the wing is so rare I have to restore it. I may end up painting it but i do want to look around. I wonder if there is a plastic hot-dip technology.

I had no idea that they were rare.
I had planed to smooth mine out and paint it when the rest of the car gets painted. I take it this is not a good idea to do this to a flip up wing.
