And minimally invasive uses all the stock intake parts.
That's always the hardest part of engineering a kit. The better the design, the more obvious and simple it looks.

Shane - those are all good questions. I'll post a series of pictures in the next week or so that will answer all of those questions.

Bkiller You need to learn more about negotiation ....First start out talking abou buying a NEW Corvette You know $60,000 or so financed over 7 Years that should get her attention ....Then COMPROMISE by saying that you could fix up the 928 for WAY LESS money and maybe "remodel" the kitchen with the savings.....fter you get the blower Ask her what color you should paint the kitchen ??

What are the differences between your kit and what used to be the F.A.S.T. Kit?

We've been together for 16 years. I learned that negotiation tactic a long time ago. Heck, that's how I ended up with the 928... I started off looking at a Caymen than convinced her buying an older car and making it my own would be a better choice... I am a car nut and she knows it, so she is used to my crazy requests..

Paint the kitchen? That sounds like an awful lot of work Jim. I was thinking you meant more along the lines of just putting new ***** on the cabinet doors.

This goes a long way toward eliminating the charge air heat at the source and an intercooler is not as neccesary with our design as with other brands or designs of blowers.
What really determines the blower outlet-temperature is where the blower is operating with respect to the efficiency-island of it's specific blower-map.

What are the differences between your kit and what used to be the F.A.S.T. Kit?
There are many...

1) The F.A.S.T kit used a un-triangulated single plate to mount their blower head. Unde rload, the plate flexed and work-hardened, and then cracked. Our engineers calculated that the 1200 CFM blower under full load was pulling on the crankshaft with 85 pounds of linear force. Given that, we design-built our supercharger mount to withstand 200 pounds of deflective force. Our mount mount is triangulated, and we have never had a supercharger mount fail as a result.

2) The F.A.S.T. kit used a serpentine belt to run the supercharger and all the auxillary pulleys (power steering, alternator) from a single belt. Because of this, they over-spooled the power steering pump and the alternator. Power Steering racks than had never leaked were now blowing thweir seals because the power steering pump was spinning too fast and raising the pressures to high in the rack. Alternator bearings were burning out prematurely.

We designed our kit to leave those auxillaries alone. We Add the pulley we need to the crank for the supercharger, and all the auxillaries act just like they did from the factory because we leave them alone. The installation is simpler, and the reliability is higher.

Those are the main ones... there are others, but the point is really moot. Because they are out of business, you cannot get parts or service on a F.A.S.T. kit anyway.

Carl,

Wow. That's all I have to say... got numbers on the dyno yet ?

My gal is getting your suspension installed shortly and have 2005 997's all 19" round the gal to boot - a nice hummmmin vortex would give the wind some grab too...

Look forward to more !

Yes!

Squish the air, and it gets hotter. How much hotter... well that's compressor engineering.

Default Progress Update

I finished 5 of the special adapters to mount the throttle linkages on the 85-86 up to our supercharger bracket this weekend. We will powder-coat them in the next day or two.

The pictures above that I posted that show the intake tubing are now wrong... I found a better way to use two sections of mandrel-bent intake tubing so there is only 1 junction in the circuit. Fewer connections, fewer clamps, cleaner look, better air flow with less turbulance. After the pipes come out of powder coating (Tues or Wed) I will new pictures of the final intake tubing config.

I could get more done on a weekend if it would stop friggen snowing... 20" between yesterday and today. My dog (a Golden Retreiver) went high-center when we let him out. His belly was supported by the snow his legs were paddling but nothing was happening. That was different!

Default Fresh Pictures - new tubing

Here are some fresh pictures that show the new tubing and a few other goodies.

I expect to be at the dyno in 2-3 weeks to get the results for you.

Let me know what you think.
