I don't know man, I think you guys are jumping to conclusions on Nitros nucleo meltdown. Yea, there were many occasions in the way past when grenading an engine was a major fear, but that was back in the pioneering days. Anyone blowing up an engine now is by passing the things like purge, good solenoids, pressure valves...
Seriously, this is the 21st century and as with any other performance enhancements, Nitros has come a long ways from the days that many keep hanging onto as it being a wrong route for power. Most systems now adays are fail safe out of the box. It's just that you get boneheads that get hooked like a junky on crack and OD on the stuff. I Think ZEX has a set up lot's of guys are adapting to all types of vehicles. All you have to do is give them your set up and specs and they will contour a kit for your car.
Get past it, Nitrous is not just a bottle and jet tapped into the a carb anymore, where you hope for the best. It is a very effective route for cheap, quick bolt on performance. Again, it's just a differnt way to get HP.

The dyno chart YOU posted says 379.2rwhp!!!!!!
How did you come up with 505 crank?
It's simple math Brett - 505 / 379.2 = 25% difference.
So in order for a 379.2rwhp car to produce 505 at the crank there MUST be a 25% drivetrain loss.
If true than Tim Murphy's car (actually the one his wife drives) is making over 600hp @ 6psi. So far two cross country road trips with no issues with an average MPG of 20. Not to mention taking the kids to school, yoga class, shopping.......

But you also have to agree it is much easier to grenade a motor with nitros than any other form if induction.
The videos I posted are very recent - the ZO6 is only a few years old. Car was a total loss due to the fire.
Like I said before, I have nothing against NOS - just the peanut gallery trying to convince people it's super safe, will not hurt the motor etc...... Like any other performance mod, if not executed 100% correctly, bad things are giong to happen.

I will repeat this as its worth saying twice...
I have seen LOTS of supercharged engines blown to smithereens....
NO method of forced induction is safe.....but blowers are a LOT more unsafe than Nitrous...
Do a search on supercharger explosions....or even easier....go to ANY drag race weekend...
Keith is correct...with modern electronic controllers and pressure valves like the WON SPRV...They rarely happen any more...
To be honest...with electronic controllers for Nitrous and Turbo engines...my personal opinion is that blowers are the least safe of the three types as basically they are still mechanical systems

The reason the chart is strange is that they could NOT hold my car down properly....even with EVERY strap they owned as soon as they hit the Nitrous it tried to launch itself OUT of the rollers
The kickdown on the autobox was activating as well which didnt help...
Now...as far as the figures are concerned...they took the figures from several partial runs...and worked them from there...on one partial run as an example...they saw 168 EXTRA HP at the rear wheels when my Nitrous (jetted at 150 hp) was running....
Assuming that true....and assuming conservatively that my S2 has standard 310 hp...that gives 478..ish...but mine is not standard....personally I would estimate around 340 OFF Nitrous...and around 530 is when Nitrous is running...
The transmission losses they set at 25% not me....on a previous dyno run...they set it at 8%...I dont know why the difference....
Having said all that...it was a Porsche Versus TVR dyno day.....and they were pushed for time...but I DID BEAT EVERY OTHER PORSCHE THERE.....you should have seen the 2 GT3 owners faces and an RS when my 20 year old 928 rumbled onto the rollers and beat them all

I have yet to see a faulty blower or turbo install burn a car to the ground. Mabye if someone left a fuel line open.....that can happen with a stock car. One wrong button push (as in the Nissan I posted above) and you have a hole in the garage with NOS.
Of coarse I should take into account your statement is probably including Nitro Methane supercharged drag racers.

Look at the hundreds of little Nitrous cartridges and chargers ...they are NOT for cars...they are for "Nitrous" parties
In the UK we call them sniffers

The point here is that I KNOW its safe...you may not believe me....but I do have a little experience of this...I have answered a lot of pms and emails from Rennlist 928 users and am happy to do so...
I wouldnt recommend Nitrous if I thought it was unsafe....precisely the same as saying a blower is always safe..or a Turbo....ANY of them can damage an engine...
I have as much experience if not more on 928s and Nitrous as anyone ...plus I have the foremost Nitrous expert in the world (Trevor Langfield) as a friend if I need more knowledge about a particular application...

Regarding superchargers...Adrian Clarke in the Uk (who has a blown 928) has enormous problems with it blowing clutches...how do you cope with clutch burnout in the US ??

The guy running for his life as his NOS powered ZO6 went up in flames might disagree (video linked above in case you missed it).
How about the guy with the Maxima who had the fun task of trying to explain why half of his garage is in the next county to the insurance company?
Truth is, NOS is dangerous because it's so cheap and simple to setup.
People go overboard because they do not have the expert in their corner as you do. I have no doubt you car will fly (well hopefully not literally), make all kinds of HP and be as safe as one can be in a street car going 200mph.
I would still like you to explain how you came up with a 25% drivetrain loss with your car. That is puzzling.
