Default GTS: ATL 94 $32500 Black on black

Anyone knows this car?

No affiliation. Sounds like a good deal. Original owner with low miles.

My prediction is it'll be gone in 48 hours. Back on ebay in 2-4 weeks.

Carfax shows a couple of fender benders and that it was only driven 20 miles between 1/05/01 and 2/15/06. That can't be good.

Prospective buyers don't sweat the details like sitting for 5 years, its miles miles miles, beside even if it needs lots of work to make a "like new" that isn't a huge factor related to the selling price like it would be for an older car selling for much less.

OTOH there is a black on black 94 with about 90k on the clock that has been forsale for many months locally, the Pacific Imports car.

What I mean is that the person who buys this car will be someone willing to overlook the flaws we see, and that $5k work on a $32k car doesn't have the impact of $5k work on a $12k car. If its a car you want issues within 15% should not stop you, and if the seller really wants to sell offers up to -15% deserve serious consideration.

Second point was just that many sellers are willing to offer the cars for a VERY long time to find a full price buyer willing to overlook flaws that others see and perhaps they don't. The local car at Pacific is very appealing right up to looking at the PPI.

OK- I beg to differ, however. I believe the prospective purchaser will be an enthusiast rather than some Joe off the street looking for a nice used ride, "let's see, should I buy the 04 Lexus or the 94 Porsche for the same money" With that said, for that kind of dough- I think the purchaser will be very discriminating, unwilling to overlook many flaws, regardless of mileage.- My .02c.

Is this due to simple decaying of rubber parts/seals? I'm curious because as we make improvements on our 84, people have begun to ask if we're trying to get it into show quality. My answer is a definitive NO because I love driving it and I've heard over and over that drydocking a shark is not a good thing.

Put a real transmission in it and it might be worth something.

I agree the purchaser isn't likely to be picking between a late model lexus and a 15 year old Porsche, but with all due respect I suspect most 928 sold by dealers are not going to current Rennlist members, but members of the general public who will learn the do's and don't's of 928 purchasing AFTER they have one.

My concern is that even with the expensive cars that unusual events lead to the long storage time, and that proper precautions may not have been taken. My car was purchased from the family of a man who had a heart attack and was suddenly hospitalized, and they did not decide to sell it for over a year.

Old coolant, bad gas, dead batteries, drying seals, rubber parts that deteriorate from time and ozone as much as mileage, rodents are very fond of the area below the intake, plenty more I can't think of. This doesn't even touch on the problems that the car may have resulting in it "just not being driven" like failing a smog test from a flaky brain, or any other repair that just wasn't convenient for the owner to deal with.

Ignore the show quality comment, in my opinion preparation of a show car has very little in common with the preparation of a 23 year old Porsche that may see speeds over 150 MPH. Its still one of the fastest cars in the world, and that requires a serious preventive maintenance schedule of replacing parts, not just making it shiny.

Some of these low mileage garage queens may have a ton of issues that don't show up until the car is driven like a 928 should be for a month or so.

Darn, I have already emailed and left avoice message for the seller. I have been itching to see this car all day. I was thinking it might have had damage in the past accounting for the price, but no mileage in five years scares even me. I have a 968 that has had only 2k milesin 3 years, but the car is driven at least once a month and I've spent way more dollars than I've put miles on it. I was envisioning driving this shark to and from work in Atlanta traffic to save some of the miles I'm putting on the 996. The 6 speed in the 968 just isn't for commuting in this traffic. Maybe he has clipped the miles, which would be better than sitting for five years
