alternative dials for rear a/c control?

alternative dials for rear a/c control?
Has anybody given any thought to replacing the existing, largish ***** for the rear a/c with something smaller, more like the attached picture? - obviuosly not exactly like that, but that style of roller switch first picture I found that was close.
My thinking is that if you want to do something like Paul Champagne did to integrate a nav system, you could use something much smaller, integrate it a bit better, and also just ditch the digital clock and use what's on the nav.
I have no clue as to what's behind their looks like, but a cursory search didn't reveal anything.
