Default Shift Coupler Bushings round or oblong?

As I wrap up my 5 speed tranny rebuild, I was going to replace the bushings on the rear shift cuopler (the one that mounts right to the tranny). I thought the bushings were worn and contirbuting to some minor shifter play. After looking more closely, I can't tell if the bushings are worn or if they are supposed to be oblong?

Does anynone know?

They have a slight slot for and aft ... factory designed that way.

Thanks Jim. Glad i didn't machine up some new round ones. Do you know the intent of th slotting? Is it to add address non linear linkage travel or to prevent vibration transmission etc?

I think it was vibration but the 78 the collar/yoke on the forward shift rod was mounted to the BODY not the torque tube so with the driveline mounted on rubber there was movement.
