Thanks Porken for posting that!! I will add this: I have on my 5sp '86.5 an Ott x-pipe and a RMB. It is the best sound I have heard yet.

I have tried just the RMB with cats, didn't like it. Just x-pipe and rear muffler put back on, too quiet.

The larger resonators on the '86.5 and the x-pipe + RMB gave the best sound...IMHO.

For the '85-'86 exhaust on the right, the x-pipe sounds great, but is a bit raspy at higher rpms, and of course with a one piece exhaust from the cat back a RMB is not available without cutting and welding.

Thanks Garth! apparantly my '88 S4 has the smaller resonators since mine have the single hole through the center instead of what looks like the four holes in the larger ones...
Now if I could just trim a bit of the sound level when the throttle opens up without losing too much power I'd have the perfect sound!
Are the resonators important/useful or could I replace them with mufflers like the Borla's I saw on someones car here, they seemed to fit that location well with their low profile.

My 88 has the baby resonators- those coupled with the money RMB, sounds like it means business!
