Default powdercoating two-piece wheels

Hello again! I'm looking at having my wheel centers powdercoated and would like to have outer rims polished at the same time. Are there any secret's/tip's to seperating centers from rims? Also if anyone near Chicago knows a powdercoater or polishing company they can vouch for please let me know. thx db

It depends on the type and make of the wheels you have. Some have a large O-ring between the two halves to make an air tight seal, others just use a coat of RTV over the seam where the wheels mate. Also some manufactures don't recommend re-using the bolts. Do you know what torque to use when re-assembling? Do you have a source of spare bolts if some get broken? I'm not saying don't do it; but you need to do some research first.
