Its only -30C and the car has been garaged for the third month but not too much cabin fever. Car projects along with many other things to do around the land mixed with a little ice fishing for trout for the smoker and some downhill skiing keeps us positive.
Plus there's always a fridge full out in the garage

Actually Im very happy even living in below 0 temperatures with few hours of sunlight and all while scratching tooth and nail now into 2 years of trying my own at business ownership and having recently sold my 928 to BOB (Sharkey will be replaced hopefully within the year)
As said earlier, some like Mike are having a tough time.
I think Rennlist is the greatest forum created for 928 owners many thanks to John D. and even Randy for keeping us on track. That said, when I feel someone is getting screwed my bad side will show (the support your used car dealer so they can make a killing thread that occasionally appears) but I thoroughly enjoy learning about our sharks more each day and enjoy working on them.
Nicole, While I am old enough to retire (66yo) I am having the time of my life.
Work is tough, but it's a challenge and keeps me going.
My 928 helps keeping me young, got a big thumbs up from another old dude in a Buick today.
One has to appreciate how many good things that we all have. Owning a Super car, food and potable water, a glass of wine, good health.
Great friends. Hot Damn!
There are a lot of dreams that one can tie up in a 928, and the basic personality of the car promises to deliver on every one of those dreams.
BUT- and it's a big but, it can take a lot of trial and error to repair or correctly service any older car, and a 928 isn't just any car. It was a wealthy persons car from the outset, and it was assumed that such a person would do the car justice. Dreams won't cut it in the service department.
Yeah, the weather stinks up here, but the truth is some people spend more time looking at their 928 than they will ever spend driving it. If you are not a born tinkerer, this can be quite depressing really.
Especially if you are paying Joe Blow big bucks to make your car worse than it was before you drove it in to his shop. The truth is that some 928s change hands fairly often, and not everybody has access to a TB party or Bill Ball. Or any kind of first class service. These cars wipe their a$$e$ with thousand dollar bills. After a while the romance can fade, and your neighbors Miata looks pretty good with those new wheels and working AC.
This forum is full of hardcore 928 owners and true enthusiasts. It is also visited by newly smitten 928 owners who have no idea what to make of their new to them pride and joy. Hving been stung by the bug, I always try to have a kind word for the downcast. Generally speaking, 928 owners are great people, at turns blessed or cursed. Heck, they put up with me, they can't be all bad.
Just keep in mind that some 928ers are in it for the long haul. Others are visitors to a strange dimension of sights and sounds known as the Bwaa zone. In the end, these cars are either percieved to be fantastically rewarding or incredibly harsh mistresses. I happen to like a little of both.
Stan Shaw also once said to me in a PM: 'Life's too short to make enemies'.
The winter blues probably have a lot to do with it, but I have to say as a Noob, I've been treated really well on this forum and although I may not own mine forever, I would definitely say I'm hooked.
i can't figure it out. some post i've seen lately are even more than just grumpy. i seen in one post a member stated an alternative to make a job easier, then another member outright attacked him. i'd think if you don't agree, there is a more tactful way to get your points across than name calling and begrading.

thanks
Steve,
There are days when people have their ASSHAT on a little tight, or in the middle of a TM (testosterone moment). You blow it off and they apologize in a PM later. You also have to look for the degree of smilys.

I'm happy to hear that! You must be doing something interesting...

That's a good reason to own one... I don't want to get old. Not that I can really stop it. But maybe the car can.
Do I have to drive at light speed to stay young? I think ol' Albert said something along those lines...

The trouble is that we all want more than just the car, but the car wants all of us. Sometimes that's a bit hard to reconcile...
This forum is like being in a room with a hundred people and you can walk around and join any discussion you want. Some will be boring, some will be argumentative, some will be nostalgic, some will be technical, some will be folksy etc.. You can't judge the people in the room by a few conversations, but it's fair to assume there are some great folks in the room, and of course, a few ********.
