16V are cast iron
85-95 are stainless
I would use the 85-86 in every project since they flow better - installed a pair on my 81 this year.

I hope John is progressing along with his S4 project.

That's a timely post as John has just posted on Pelican with pics of the 32v set up, looks like it is nearly finished/installed.

UNTS... Kuhn has already built a 16v twin turbo. He will build another if you are willing to pay the cost of admission. Last I heard, he didn't think the market would be there for a 16v set-up. E-mail him and talk with him about it. He is a very cool and knowledgable guy.
Those custom headers are pure sex. I wonder how many hours are tied up in those things.

John has already completed the hardest part, making it work. It would be a shame to see it die there (with the 16V market, I have no doubt the 32V market will support a TT setup). I for one would love to turbo my track car. In the past I've had a few off-line conversations about this with John. I was not ready to jump in and he was knee deep in the S4 process.
Once I have my 79 converted to a 3rd party system (this fall?) how to boost it will be my #1 priority. I'm going to wait for Tim and Todd to work out the bugs with the Autronic system before jumping in with my car.
He already has the manifold setup figured out - It would be cool if there was enough demand to contract out a header fabricator of some sort to make a few. I'm guessing the 16V and 32V versions could be the same except for the flange that bolts to the head. Have a few units produced without flanges - add those when orders come in. Just a guess on my part.
There is a market for go-fast 16V's. It's a shame more people do not realize the potential of these engines. You do not need 32 valves to make serious HP. Special Tools 500+rwhp 951 with 8V heads is a good example.
