Check the "Member to Member for sale" postings in the "All Forums" section. Jay Wellwood has an '87 for sale that seems VERY WELL sorted out for $10K. Could be the best bargain around. I sold an '88 automatic, black/black, 78K miles in excellent condition a month ago for $15K, and the purchaser got an excellent car at an attractive price.

Most people here would be happy to look at a car for you if it's near them, I've been known to do such a thing. Be patient, you'll find a good car easily. I've bought cars at a long distance from me both with and without issue, that's were a PPI comes in. But if you can read people when you talk to them that certainly helps. Ask the right questions and you'll be golden. Good luck.

jcb928 has a sweet '87 S4 automatic for sale for $7500 in WA state.
Lots of recent maintenance items. I haven't seen it myself, but it sounds good and the pics of it show a nice car. He's also a known lister on rennlist and the PacNW Yahoo group.
The for sale ad is here in the member classifieds:

And you mentioned something about the 86.5 cars, those are excellent 928's, they have the S4 suspension and brakes, with the older body style. And the 86.5 responds very well to the x pipe and chip mods. Its also no slouch stock.
I think the deals are out there, but you may have to be patient, and you might consider buying long distance, although I could understand someone not wanting to do so. -Ed

Thank you to everyone who has offered advice and taken the time to email me with potential sharks. I have to say, that I am amazed at the support that has been provided to me by folks I have never met! It speaks highly of this board and the members here.
I now feel less frustrated and more hopeful that I too, will be a new shark owner.
Thanks again and keep the emails coming with potentials!
