Default Spare a central warning brain?

Toast. The resistor for the fuel level light overheated, and took out a trace for the coolant temp light too.

I'm tempted to delete the brain, and jumper the warning lights, but I'm trying to keep the '86 near stock.

928 641 602 05

Mine is dated 11.84, and is rev 04, but PET shows rev 05 for 84-91.

It's possible to recover the trace with a thin wire as this PCB is pretty rugged. BTDT, don't give up on it just yet!

I looked at it, and I could bypass the bad traces, but the part number is used for (7) years, so there's bound to be a good one out there.

I also am not sure what the resistance should be for the bad resistor. I'm guessing the resistor controls the delay for how long before the light shows on the dash, so I could put pretty much anything there.

I have some 86's lying around. Where is the brain located?
If I have the right number I will get it in the mail today. I have your address I think.

Roger,

It's bolted to the backside of the dead pedal.

Call 928 Int'l (Rennlist Sponsor). They stock that unit at a reasonable price without having
to worry about getting a questionable unit, e.g. having new central warning problems.

If I can't trade for it or get it for extra cheap - it's outa there. It's becoming more and more difficult to resist my 'urge to purge' on the '86.

Ken,
I have one out of my 84 parts car.
Looks in great condition but do not know if it works or not.
Pt Number is 928 641 602 04 dated 5/84.
Youre welcome to try it and have it for free if I can get a good position on your list for the next run of 32V timing tools
email or PM me your address and it will go out tomorrow.

Thanks Rog! That's the part number I have now, so it should work.

Maybe I'll send you one of my EZ-F tweaks, assuming one of your point fives runs.

Default I see the light(s)!

Got it today! Thanks Roger!

Now, even though my gas gauge only works occasionally, I have the reserve light!

Your welcome!
Now about your 32V timing Tool - when are you doing some more and can I get a good spot on the list?
Best,
Roger

Have you tried cleaning the connector at the sending unit? Mine acted the same way (light would work for the most time but the gage didn't) It was a corroded ground wire. You can get to it from the hatch. Lift the carpet and you'll see a while fibre cover on the right side of the trunk. Lift it, and a large black round plug will be visible. Remove that too and you'll see the connector and the top of the gas tank. Gently remove the connector and clean it with some steel wool. This worked for me and I hope it does for you too!
