I drive mine a total of 75 kilometers per day to get to work and back 4 days a week (about 187mile/week). Mostly open road HWY with 2 or 3 Light stops.
Fridays & Saturdays is rest days for the shark and will only come out of the garage if it's a nice sunny day for a cruise in the country on Sundays. I may travel up to 300 miles in that day.
I've done this for the last 6 months since owning the '81 928. This way I get time to have a play, spend some money on her and improve things a little.
Cheers
Glenn

I drive mine to work every day, about 15 miles each way. It is a superb freeway commuter. Not so good in stop-and-go traffic.

Oh yeah, daily driver. Rain or shine. Sleet or snow. 13 miles into town- 4 sweepers and about 8 miles of open straightaway with only two stoplights until I hit town. I rarely get her over 100mph since she's a 78 and pretty stock- except for TB/WP, of course!

My daily driver is a Mercedes diesel. My Shark is insured as a "secondary pleasure car" limited to 5000 miles per year so it only gets out for a swim on select excursions. My daily commute is only 7 miles each way, so I can't justify firing up the Shark for that short of a trip. When I do drive the Shark I like to let it breathe for quite a few miles at a time.

I work out of my downstairs office, and my commute when I have one is to the airport by shuttle. Then it's rental cars. But when I'm home, I drive the 928 as the regular driver. mrs dr bob has a 4-runner that does the duty when 2 of us go someplace, since the back seat is full of her 'stuff' and she has a problem when she's not driving. Anyway, that 928 duty averages out at about 5k a year generally, and has been less than 1k a couple busy years. Just broke 75k this week, right at about the anniversary of the car's build date in 1988. So it's no longer a low-mile car, I guess. Celebrated with a little wax on the roof.

I need rear tires soon. Only 25k and six years out of the Pilot MXX3's that came on the wheels. Fronts only lasted 20k, mostly due to suspension sag. If I had to put tires on it every other year or so, at a cost of ~~$1k a set, this would not be the car for me to use as a driver. Same with other major maintenance items. $1k+ in TB/WP every three years? A couple $hundred every few years for brakes. That's what it takes for the average 12-15k a year driver. I can afford the stuff so I do, but this is not anywhere close to a bargain commuter car. For that you need a five year old Civic.
