Porsche Certificate of Authenticity problem
#16
I've never understood the point of a COA (other than an easy $100 in pure profit for Porsche), but this thread makes me think they are an even bigger waste of money than I thought.

If COA would always have full and correct engine and gearbox serial numbers it would be very valuable paper. It would be only such document and would also mean Porsche actually has this information in database somewhere. This would mean it is possible to say if major parts in car are same which were installed in it at the factory. This information has major effect into value of all collectable cars. In old pre early seventies Ferraris for example, having original engine can mean double value compared to othervise similar car which has correct type but wrong serial number engine.

See my other thread on this ver COA topic here and my problems:

Its not been 8 months and I havent heard frmo them in three months. Im calling them again.
And yes, the MSRP they quoted on my car was $10,000 below what the 1988 Porsche Fact Book (official Porsche salesman literature we're talking here) calls for. Their explanation was same thing. It may have been and of year and the dealer cleaned out old stock.
Gimme an effing break. When have you ever bought a brand new Porsche 911 Turbo for 17.5% under MSRP. Can you never?
