injector leaks like a siff '83 928s
while replacing some vacuumlines i found out that on the driver sides fuel rail is one of the fuel injector hoses is leaking. and that quite a bit. it is at the rubber top part. i can whipe it off and then i see gas bubbling out at a seem.
how can i fix that?
can i just buy the rubber thingy or does it have to be the whole injector?
is there a quick fix to it since i am supposed to be somewhere else tomorrow

There are repair kits available. Check out the big 3. If you can get a short piece of high pressure fuel line, you can replace just the leaking one. It is wiser to replace them all.

i assume it it crutial, as to how long the line needs to be cut.
i think one can pick some up at auto zone or where ever.
but it sure needs to be the exact lengh or it will leak.

I replaced the lines on my 81' when I first got it. Not that hard to do. I went to a local injection shop and got my line. The owner used to work for an exotic car dealer here in Reno so he was familiar with 928 injectors. I believe the correct size for the line is 8mm. I used one of the old lines for a template and cut eight new lines off of what I bought with a razor blade. The hardest part was getting the old lines off of the injectors.

They are not very long. I would say 2" at the most. I don't think you will be able to replace the line with out pulling the fuel rail for whatever bank you are working on. Mine had been worked on before so I had hose clamps on them already. If I'm not mistaken they don't have hose clamps on them from the factory. I think they use some type of compression fitting.

i will try to tackle it in the AM.
the way it looks is that the fuel rail would come off after loosening that one clamp in the back but i gott check it out some more.
you're right , jim i didn't remember seeing any hose clamps either i hope i can reuse the top fitting at least and at the bottom the hose clamp

Replace all the hoses while you have the fuel rail off. If one is leaking, the others will not be far behind. Once you have the fuel rail disconnected front and rear, the injectors are held in with one bolt only. My personal preference for reassembly is to reseat each injector and bolt in, then mount the fuel rail and tighten the new clamps. That way, you don't have to fight 4 injectors at one time while reseating them

so the injectors will stay in place with that one bolt? that's good to know...
yes, i was hoping to not have to mess with the hole rail at once.
also, what about the fuel pressure will go-juice be all over or is the pressure gone with releasing the rail bolts?

Porsche diagram shows a metal ring that I think gets "crimped" on, kit I got has clamps that are springy and you pinch the little tabs together with pliers to get them on and off I think.
Since yours leaks, pressure is likely gone, but yeah, some juice will spill.

For a different take on the injector R&R, I find that the cup washers pictured avove are all that is required to 'seal' the new hoses - no screw clamps. The correct size hose is a bear to fit over the injector and rail nipple - so I fit it all together as a bench top assembly, using some WD-40 to ease the hoses on.
Then, drop the rail with 4 injectors attached into the manifold. If you do not have new injector seals ( especially the small one) be very careful with them .... or air leak happens. To repeat, cut all hoses per side the identical length.
Also, carefully counterhold the fixed nuts either end of the rail when turning the others - or a nasty twist will appear ...
