Default Pod cracks repaired - pics

For those following the bolster thread, here are the pics of the fixed pod I promised. The pod came out WAAAAYYYY better than I expected. It is as perfect as one can expect. I am extremely pleased.

The residue on the pod in the "before" picture is from tape. The "after" picture was just taken, and before I could clean up the dust from the sanding. I guess I should have cleaned it up before posting. Nevertheless, you can see the difference and it is absolutely amazing. You honestly cannot tell there was ever a problem. Sorry Champagne... no leather recover in my immediate future.

Step 1 - Pay someone who has 15 years experience doing this sort of thing.

In all seriousness, the guy who did this work went over the entire interior and fixed every little nick, scratch, and tear throughout the car. The inside looks close to showroom perfect. I am very pleased, and it is quite possibly the best $250 I ever spent on this car.

Looks very nice! Interested in what/how it was done as I have a small crack in my dash above my vent.

I really, really dig what Paul does though - beautiful work . http://www.designpaulchampagne.com/i.../blackpod3.jpg

As far as a DIY, I just don't have the nads to try something like this with zero experience. I feel confident I would not get it right the first time, and I absolutely know my results wouldn't turn out this good. The man can perform miracles for less than $300.

The guy who did the work is Harry Alldinger. He's a local guy in Tuscaloosa, AL. No store front, just works out of his car and by word of mouth only. This town is weird like that. My mechanic turned me on to him. I had to wait a month before he could fit me into his schedule, but it was well worth the wait.

I've got his card if anyone wants to get in touch with him. I told him some people might want to after they see his work. He could have easily charged me double, and I still would have thought I ripped him off. His work is that good, and my interior hasn't looked this nice since it rolled off the factory floor.

I doubt it since he seems to have more business just around these parts than he knows what to do with. He's a deeply religious man who has no desire to grow the business beyond what it is now. I told him I wanted to learn how to do this stuff and he said he'd teach me in the Spring, when the weather warms up. I'm going to hold him to that.

Kinda makes you wonder how many people who think they have perfect interiors, have perfectly repaired interiors?

When the dealer prep guys took the plastic wrap off my car they nicked the steering wheel, and after a bit of arm twisting the dealer sent a guy out to fix it. Nice guy, full time fireman, worked his off days fixing all sorts of interior problems. If I didn't know where to look I would never find the repair he made and its been 16 years. I was curious and the car was sitting in my driveway, but he made no bones about me not getting to see any of the repair process, and he did no work except through the dealer. Now my guess is that more people are in the trade and it isn't so sticky.

Nothing to be sorry about, I'm glad you are satisfied.
The fact is that most of my clients seek my work mainly because they want leather.

Again, the main thing is that you are pleased with the results. The craftsman is obviously very talented

The guy who fixed your pod was obviously very good, but I have to say I've gotten quite a few compliments on my Champagne-treated pod. Pics don't do it justice... it looks, feels, even smells great.

That is impresive. He could franchise this. Or is it only Pcars that have such a need? There is a thread in the archives (?) from 2-3 years ago, not this guy, results similar, but difficult to obtain.
