I have a '91 GT...don't know the offsets, but am willing to check to pick these up. I have always loved the look of these wheels, and am very interested. Does anyone here know by chance?

Sorry, not too sure about the 928 fitments, but I'm sure someone here could chime in that know.

Your not in Asheville, OH by chance are you?

[QUOTE=por951turbo]Sorry, not too sure about the 928 fitments, but I'm sure someone here could chime in that know. [QUOTE]

From Kim Crumb:

There always seems to be some controversy about this. The 928 has double a-arm front suspension, unlike all the other (modern) Porsche's which have strut suspension. This results in different design factory offset, for the front. Given the low production numbers, there are few wheels made for the standard 928 front offset of: 65 mm. There are lots of 50-55 mm
wheels from the Boxster, late model 911, etc. The problem is? The 928
has very different weight distribution than those cars. So it is highly unlikely that the staggered fitments they always have represent the optimum fitment for the 928. I have a long list of complaintants about tire fender rubbing and reduced directional steering stability from people who have used non-factory (less) offset front wheels. I have experienced it myself. Is it impossible to get great 928 wheels? Of course not. It just usually means multi-piece wheels. This costs lots more than the low-cost cast (factory and especially aftermarket) wheels being sold for all those other Porsche models. While the pricing is attractive, I can not recommend them without you knowing the caveats. They just aren't the best fitment for the 928, for the reasons I've explained. Nothing is gained in actual grip because the poor match (to factory specs) in front width and offset permits no gain in tire width. So you end up spending what is still a fair amount of money for purely cosmetic reasons. It's your money, spend it as you see fit. It's funny, I first addressed this nearly 15 years ago. I thought it would get settled inside our community at least... particularily when the a couple years later the Porsche AG factory itself put out the 928 GT Cup stuff for the German Porsche Club. They picked the exact same 9.5 width, 68 mm offset for the front that I had done, and published in Porsche PANORAMA as part of the three part "Project 928" series. I can say that the factory agrees with me, at least. And that a 255 or 265 mm tire fits nicely with that width and an offset. A huge gain in performance...since even the factory agrees in their specifications right to the mm, for over a decade now, I'm puzzled at what appears to be resistance to the facts. The rear tends to not represent as big a problem, since offsets were in the 52 mm region from the factory S4>. For the rear? A 9.5 or 10 with an offset of 55-60 mm with a 265-285 width tire (also a huge gain.) So please have all the facts, and choose between wheels that just aren't the best fit for a 928, but are inexpensive, or get wheels that are a great fit for a 928, and probably will cost lots more. At least know what your choices are, and I'm reminded of the old adage "that you get what you pay for." Hey, I don't like it any better than you do, but those are the facts. YMMV. Kim

What condition were they in before the re-finish?

They were straight and true, but had the common scratches and rock chips. Just bad paint.
