Actually so many cars without a front plate, and the language on the plate envelope, made me wonder if I just forgot to check some box to just get one plate issued. Maybe I could have registered it as a trailer?

Those cities with photo light enfocement are far more likely to cite cars for no front plate. It also is a reason for an officer to stop you and then ask "Sir have you been drinking ? " Which after a nice dinner with a fine bottle of wine will most likely get you a drunk driving arrest with all the issues....a night in jail , car towed and impounded , significant fine, 90 day loss of driving priveledge except to go to work, manditory drunk driving school , higher insurance permiums, etc. etc.

Here's your new license plate frame for living in cities with photo light enforcement: Linky

I like their marketing approach , but I can imagine how quickly your car would get impounded once the police recognize these for what they are....

Jim
You are so right.......as much as I hate to say it the answer to the "have you been drinking" is always NO......I don't care if you are stone blastered.....by saying yes you give the cop PC (probable cause) to detain you and put you through the battery of sobriety tests....which he probably will do anyway, but by saying no you make him explain why he thought you were drunk (in the report)...vs you admitting drinking! It just gives you a better defense later.....

Of course the above scenario is purely hypothetical and is not to be construed as legal advice, for your entertainment only!

Now Porken,

How about an automatic link between this device and a photo light enfocement detector.

We take the front plate off (if it was ever attached) as we need the space for the plow.

I was stopped for not having a front plate within two weeks of buying my first 928....no ticket but he checked everything else and gave me a warning. I really hated to put the plate on but he typed a note into his computer, which I suspect is a note to the next cop who stops me.

I got cited for no front plate as a "bonus" with a speeding ticket, now it's stowed between the pass seat and the TT tunnel so I can "display" it on the dash should I get pulled over.

My state requires no front plate. The only thing good I can say about it.

Very interesting point, Brian. I've answered truthfully the few times I've been asked, but I am big boy, a substantial booze sponge, and was not impaired any of those times. Once I was asked to do a roadside sobriety test - the cop's response was ~ "Wow, you can do that better than I can" and he sent me on my way.

I believe I wouldn't have been as good/fast at touching my nose if I'd been tee-total that time. My dad was an NCAA place fencer and said he always had _a_ beer before a match, as the loosening helped. That fits all the buff books' experiences when they deliberately get their staffs drunk under controlled circumstances on closed courses.

I have been young and dumb in my time but no DUI's for me, ever.

Just show them my moves from Drunken Master, http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0080179/

I learned my lesson about drinking doing my calculus homework in college, don't drink and derive.

We alway have a designated driver too, but I agree, these days you are best to admit to NOTHING and say very very little. Be polite and take your medicine.

OTOH on the way to Vegas once my wife bought a bottle of soda in a long neck bottle, and we got pulled over and given a ticket for expired tags with the registration current and the tags just not to us in the mail yet when the CHP saw it was bubble up or whatever. Thats when I found out that AAA will appear for you in court when its not local to you.

Doesn't really matter to me since Iceman loves Sharks.
Plus, his insight is in line with that of my son, who was a cop for two years 'till drug busts and people shooting at him got on his nerves. He figured it was just a matter of time before a bullet connected in the 40% of his body not covered by the $1800 kevlar vest we gave him for Christmas. It was nice to test my V1 against his equipment though. When bad guys bug you, cops earn their pay. And, for some reason, my son doesn't like donuts.

My son hated catching speeders and drunks because you never knew how they were going to react. Kill you? One guy shot his patrol car's engine with a rifle. He made catching speeders a game...Cops are not dummies and they know most of our evasion techniques. It can kinda be fun trying to outwit the dumb. They're dangerous anyway. it was expected that he would not let everyone off..otherwise he got fired. He really hated domestic disputes...worse than drug busts. At least on the latter you know what to expect since the druggies are predictable. But the meth labs can be as bad on your health as a 9mm.

BTW, Iceman, Good kind and honorable Sir. I've been a good boy and haven't done anything bad, no where, no time. It wasn't me anyway. I was framed. I'll report you to my friend the governor. I was on my way to pick up my wife to take her to the hospital. A stalker was chasing me. I thought you were a stalker. I think my house is on fire. My foot got hung on the gas pedal. My car's speedometer said 55mph. I think your radar detector is defective, when did you calibrate it? Remember me? I was your son's uncle's best friend. We were in the same frat, remember? I donated money to the Policeman's Ball. Okay, Okay...so I was going 80 mph in a 35mph zone...no one was hurt were they? Wanna drive my car? I think I'm having a heart attack. Please hold my beer.
