WallyP,
The web site says that i have an A22.01 type tranny and the manual shows for A28 for the stall speeds (pg. 30-0103). how would i find out what the stall speed for my type tranny is?

danglerb,
Thanks for the explanation. I figure by the time i'm done working on my car, i should be an expert.. hehe

wifey's telling me it's bedtime..... you all have a great evening.

thanks,
steve

Lets just say if you enjoy working on a car, then an old 928 can be a real playground.

I'm thinking hard about making some, I was never much of a mechanic until I owned a 928, T shirts.

Whoops! My mistake - I grabbed the wrong manual volume, and sent you to the test for the four-speed automatic, instead of the three-speed that you have.

For the stall speed test, go to Page 38-3, which is in Volume II. The stall speed should be 2400 =/- 200 rpm.

Sorry about that!

Juvius,

I hear you. I recently did some work on my house and now I'm really not happy that I elected not to insulate and heat the garage when I had the chance.

I'm going to be doing a TB/WP job out there and I missed the 65 degree whether by exactly one week. This week it's supposed to be in the low 30s. I wonder what I can burn...

i was doing a search on stall speed... i found an explanation i can understand... i think i may have just been overthinking it... "To test the stall on your current torque converter: With the engine running and the brake pedal held firmly with your left foot put the selector in drive and depress the accelerator fully to the floor with your right foot for two to three seconds. Your stall speed will be the maximum RPM shown on the tach. "

I wouldn't have done it if it weren't for the shark. You haven't lived til you are working in an unheated garage, under that car on the cold cement floor, your breath condensing on the metal, wrenches get really cold too. A space heater can make it bearable, but the combustion increases the water vapor that condenses on the windows, etc. Yeah, a heated garage is worth every penny. You guys from sunbelt, please don't rub the frostbite in.

Dunno if you guys have thought of this, but why not just pull the 928 up next to the jacuzzi and work from there? No need to jack up the car, steam cleans while you work, and you are nice in warm down in the water?
