Default Calling all experts: "Voltage stabilizer" B.S. alert??

Saw this on ebay,

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Porsc...QQcmdZViewItem

My gut instinct is that this thing is bull scheisse, but I don't know for sure. Can someone please confirm or refute? The fact that it claims to solve a problem I've never heard of, and that no one else is selling these things screams snake oil.

It's a capacitor. They're usually called 'Filters' and can help with voltage spikes, they usually sell for 10 bucks or so. This one costs much more because of the long description that never says what it is, you have to pay for that kind of talant! Look for a car audio filter if you want one.

Mark,

Thanks, I've heard of capacitors. In college when the cable company would send a spike that would blow out rigged cable boxes, I thought putting a capacitor on the line might beat them in their quest to deny us free Playboy channel.

Don't need one, nor want one. Was just curious about the dubious claims.

That would be no capacitor, it's a "counter access lock decoder signal stabilizer"!

it might have a diode in it, too, but its mainly a capacitor.
