Burnt reverse clutch pack?
Hello all,
I have an 82S auto, and was alittle low on fluide, took 3 1/2 quarts to fill
The tranny slipped alittle in reverse before, now after filling, it will not back-up at all. When on the lift, the tires do move in rev. but the car will not move backwards! major inconv.! Any suggestions as to what I should look for?!?

Since it only holds about 6 liters TOTAL it was maybe more than "alittle low on fluide" when it took 3 1/2 quarts to fill it back up. The reverse brake band has an "adjustment" a shear bolt with lock nut which is factory set and the head of the shear bolt broken off so no one ever mucks with it BUT you can try to tighten the shear bolt by carefully loosening the lock nut and tighten the shear bolt a little. Mark it before so you know where you start. If that does not work with a little adjustment then more likely than not the piston/seal on the other side of the transmission is leaking and not able to make enough pressure to engage the brake band.
