i'd wrap her in bubble wrap and crate her, then i'd ship her in a airconditioned trailer

Jeez...I keep reading these posts about everyone concerned about such short trips....of course my 2700+ mile trip was with a car Tim Delarm did all the front work on......
I think Harvey snuck this purchase in, I thought he was the key potential bidder on the one I bought, I guess you (Harvey) really wanted a 5 speed!

Good Luck!

You must be talking about the HotWheels 928. I have a collection of about 30-50 different small model car 928s. I think I'll have to sell them to help pay for the new (full sized car). I ship in bubble wrap but I can air condition the shipping box with holes if you like.

Yea, Tim Delarm's car was what I really wanted (in spite of the trans) but I couldn't budge the wife's guard off the bank account at the time. By the time I got to the money, you'd already snapped Tim's wonderful car up. You may have gotten the best deal of the year on a wonderfully preserved and kept up car. Beautiful 928...but black is challenging to keep looking nice. But a great color. Someday I get a white 928.

I live in BOISE and would help. Just drive it and pray...

I'd even fly to Phoenix to help on my own dime. A case of red-bull and we could be whereever in hours, not days. I drove mine from Chicago (after the seller drove it from NY to meet me) in good time. You can to 110+ in the dark if you slow down passing semi's. I averaged 120+ through Wyoming. PM ME!

I want an adventure! I bought a '68 VW BUS on ebay and tried to drive it back from portland on FEb14 (my wife was sooooo happy). We didn't make it out of town before it blew up. I've used my karma so we should be good on a 928.

I could also supply an escort... somewhere. Yes it is snowing and there's a lot of anti-ice crap on the road, but drive it and clean it would be a decent bet, in my book, even with the "mileage" t-belt.

GO GO GO. God doesn't reward the weak.

I WILL ASSIST!!

Harvey-
I second the idea to drive it home. Fix or have the timing belt fixed before you leave, and then drive it back. I've driven mine year round for the last three years. Buy some snow tires though if you'll be traveling on ice/snow covered roads.

Yeap.. drive it if you have the time. If you do not.. I think shipping is NOT that expensive. My buddy got his '80 Targa shipped from the midwest to California for what seemed like under $1000. I'd have to check to be sure but I recall when he got it shipping was very reasonable.

Upside on flying down for a drive back.. when you return you and the car will have fully bonded (you'll either love it or sell it when you get back to town). Plus you can inspect it in person instead of being shocked when it comes off a truck some time in mid 2007.

PS. Thanks for the link for the group.. when the side starts responding I'll get signed up!!

I really appreciate Heinrich and Fraggle's kind and generous (and sounds like fun!) offers to help me bring the 928 out of deepest Arizona into the wilds to the curvy roads of North Idaho...but I'm working to find a possible carrier right now...and if not, my wife has decided to ride along and make sure that I behave myself (and to take me by her mother in law's house). The carrier idea is certainly picking up speed. I called the carrier mentioned above several times but no return calls yet. I'll start looking elsewhere if I don't hear back today. I can't wait to tear the Tbelt covers off and see what's in there!

Thanks all.

Harvey

Reliable enclosed Auto Transports.

They were/are the preffered carriee for Barret Jackson - Must of seen at least 1 or two them at the auction everyday.

his number is 253-973-3987
To this point, Fred hasn't answered my phone calls. Perhaps he's on the road? Anyone have the names of other carriers that I may consider contracting with to trailer my car from Phoenix to the Northwest?

Thanks,

Harvey
