It's more fun to rev the engine and inch the car forward (open pipes are fun to play with). When the light goes green, I don't go anywhere. It's more fun to watch them tear down the street solo thinking they are racing.

It's even better when I saw the cop coming the other way, and they didn't

What I like is when I've already blown the doors off of a ricer at the light and rather than up shift into 4th or 5th (depending on the speed achieved already), I will keep it in third gear and actually let them start to catch up to me. Then just as we're about door to door I ease back on the throttle & look over at the other driver and smile & wave ever so politely. That’s when I slowly but firmly roll back on the accelerator and pull away at an ever increasing clip.

Then without stressing the engine I up-shift and gradually ease back into the peddle again. It’s fun glancing back to watch the expression on the other guy’s face as his jaw drops. Even better when they have some of their little friends in the car egging him on to push their car harder. LOL! Hehehe.

It ain't like I do this all the time & know it ain't right. But I am careful about when & where I do this.

Maybe there's a 12 step program for this?

LOL you guys reminded me of my dad's 455 Rocket V-8 Ninety Eight Olds. He was always pissed that the 50k radial tires didn't seem to get anywhere near the advertised mileage.

Thats funny, usually when some dip**** who thinks an intake manifold and a muffler makes his Honda competitive, would rev his lunchbox motor at me, I'd just look at him with the "are you f-ing serious?" eyes and rev the beast up. That usually ends the race before it starts .

Actually, some (hot) chick in her civic hatchback pulled the 'race-me rev,' and after I revved back, she said, "yeah, you'd win..." and looked away. Best thing was, my girlfriend at the time was in the car too and thought it was equally hilarious.

On the strip though, I hold my auto to about 2k, which is right before the car would start inching forward, and dump the brakes and mash the gas. Thats with the shifter in 2. With bigger tires I get slight spin and a good launch. Then pull the 2-3-2 trick and I'm almost at the end of the 1/4 before I have to shift. Thats with a 6800rpm limit however and light work.

You guys must live in a pretty tame neighborhood. I bought a subwoofer box from a local guy off ebay, and when I picked it up he showed me his car, 800 hp turbo Supra. Guy has a normal job, but his hobby is buying some certain year of Supra and building a street racer and selling it.

I wouldn't mind some more power, but I don't have a problem with not being the fastest as long as I am having fun, and this 928 sure is fun. Something about how the power comes on makes me want to go a LOT faster than I really should. With more low end torque I tend to romp through first and second, then buck shift to forth and cruise on to fifth. With the power more top ended I tend to run up to more like 80 mph than usual 50 ish mph.
