Continuing automatic issue on 83S
Plastex, please bear in mind you will not SEE the torque converter plug leaking, it's the speed of the converter spinning that pushes out the oil past the threads.
It was a real bitch for me to realise the problem, just trying to save you the same pain!

But the plug looked totally dry, no fluid in the threads. I am going to put her back together with a new plug seal for the converter and see what happens. I have the filter and seals coming from 928 Specialists tomorow so that I can get it back together this weekend.

Read the trans additive can and see what they recommend for use procedure. Some want you to add their product, drive for a bit, them drain/refill with new fluid. The Mobil-1 fluid, expensive at $6+/qt, should be considered only after you have the other issues sorted. You can buy a case of standard ATF for less than the cost of 3 bottles of M1 fluid. Don't want to waste that M1 dribbling out on the floor. Plus it's real easy to change over once you are sure the leaks are done-- don't even need to pull the pan.
