For what it's worth. I have ' 79 Petrol Blue (metalic + Clear coat) that was badly oxidized when I got it two years ago. It had spent 10 yrs in south Florida. Last spring it was polished out and the results were fantastic...for about a week! Then various areas started to go dull????

It was polished out again and looked great for a couple of months until it sat out in the sun all day during the Grand Prix Festival at Watkins Glen. Faded again. Then polished again (I know, by now there should be no paint left) using Griot's paint sealant. That was three months ago. Still shiny.

The best explanation (theory?) that I've heard to explain this strange behavior is that the clear coat is gone and the metallic particles in the paint are now exposed to the elements. The metal is oxidizing.

That looks great! My wife just ordered (w/my help) a Christmas gift of assorted Griot's stuff. I can't wait to try it out....next spring.
