Make of this what you will, but as I was pursuing the matter by searching the website of the Florida Attorney Generals' Office, I found a searchable database of VIN #'s for cars titled in FL. When I ran the VIN# for the car, it said that the car had been titled last year, but with one curious discrepancy. Instead of the car being listed as grey, which is it's current color, it was listed on the title as blue.

Possibly a mistake by the FL DMV, but it sure does add a new dimension to this fiasco.

Most of it, although it was obtained from eBay's third-party vehicle auction insurance agency. The seller no longer responds to my attempts at contact.

I guess I was supposed to believe that the money would not be available until the car had been sold, although that didn't seem to stop the seller from recently purchasing an item on eBay valued at close to $200.
