Unless it's really dirty, some sort of quick detailer spray will clean it just fine.

I don't see how you could keep from adding microscratches by doing this. You're wiping off microscopic dirt or bits of sand.

Maybe you could take a five gallon bucket with a snap-tight lid with you to the garage, and sponge it down before you tuck it in? You'll leave a llittle bit of water on the garage floor, but not much, and certainly not the mess you'd make with a hose!
I had to do the same. Worked out fine.

My limit is a light dusting with one of those things.

Cold weather and sports cars go together like Hilary Clinton and Viagra!

What a waste, why even own a nice car in that kind of climate. This is why I left Chicago, and it's not half as bad there. Even though I drove all 5 of my previous Porsche's year round when I was there. No wonder there are zero Canadian car companies, even Sweden benefits from the Gulf Stream and is warmer. Your best bet is that Canada goes through with that idea to make some (i can't recall which) Caribbean island a new province. Other than that, get a Visa and come to work and live in the U S and A, wah wah wee wah, it was 80 degrees ABOVE zero here today. Our expensive gas is still a lot cheaper than yours, and while we don't have "free" health care (remember, you get what you pay for).

Crossing my fingers for a short winter for you, the car looks like a beauty, great color! Hope the anti-Canada stuff heated you up enough to brave the cold and wash the car ;-)

Cheers,

Scott

Here in sweden its like +0 to +7C in daytime and its creeping below zero at night and the car sits in the garage dirty...

Im thinking about taking it to the car wash (just 100m from the garage). Im a little concerned about it not drying up because of the temperature but I will probably take it there anyway

Its much nicer to hace a clean and beatiful looking shark in the garage during winter when I visit the garage just sitting there and looking.. and dreaming about summer ;D

Half the reason I own a 928 is because of the beautiful 3D artform that I get to view from all angles in my garage. So, for that Half of the year that the weather is not cooperating for a drive, it's still o.k.

We're still driving here in Maine. 60 degrees Thursday. 55 Friday. 50 today and through the next several days. No snow yet.

No offence taken Scott but we shall recall such remarks when our Californian friends need some water or power or oil or good beer or bacon............$$$$$$USD

So this is what happened yesterday. With all the great encouragement from the 'List as well as the anti-Canadian comments I moved the car just outside the garage and washed it. With a light breeze and warm (as in non freezing temps) the car dried and is clean enough for storage/winter projects.

Fire up the engine and engage a fwd gear and the tyres just spin. OK, back down the drive a little further (its on a slope) try again, same results. Further down the driveway on to a more level stretch, fwd gear get going with a little momentum to make it up the slope and in the garage. Made it.
Out the car and look to admire my work, its dirty again from the wheel spins

Open the garage fridge and crack a brew . Scott, I'm coming to visit assuming I can get out the driveway

Sorry to hear that you're sacked in for the winter - it's much milder here on the Atlantic coast, cooled down to a brilliant +12C today: ran the 928 hard yesterday up to the Bay of Fundy - and the Carrera even harder this AM on the Ridge Rd dividing the Annapolis and Gaspereau valleys ..... you know, the kind of ride where you have to check your pulse rate when you stop ..... maybe I'll wash the guys tomorrow, for there's good weather for another run today ..

BTW, tell me again, what wheel is that in your avatar? It's almost as nice looking as a great Porsche car. Is the finish stock? What do you clean them with?

Hey Harv,
If Malcolm doesn't mind hijacking on this highly technical thread, I will at least mention 'cleaning' : the avatar is a front 8x18 Club Sport shot on the car. Same as the rest of the flat forged wheels, the finish is anodized. This will last forever, as long as mild soap is used for cleaning ..... but a miniscule coat of vasoline well rubbed in will refresh a tired anodized finish.
