My 928 is also a Japanese import. I got it thorough a co-worker who has brought over a number of older BMWs and Mercedes (including a couple of nice 500SLs) as well as a mid-80s 930. Total cost to get the car here was about $9,000, but by time everthing was brought up to snuff, including a replacement engine (...long story) the total cost was around $15,000. Notwithstanding the engine issue, I think that these cars are a pretty good value. Almost all of them are very low miles (50K on mine) and in good shape.
There's enough of the Japanese imports showing up over here that the local market is starting to get flooded with them, driving the resale down. We're also starting to see Skylines & other Japansese market-only, right-hand drive rice rockets roaming roads regularly.

Yep,
Splendid Autos in Vancouver (Robert Voytcheff) imports 928's from Japan. I just bought this 1988 S4 from him. Great guy to deal with! Had it shipped from Vancouver to Ontario...no problems...and a very solid and well maintained car. It's fun showing the Spec Plate on the driver side...it's in Japanese...same with some of the stickers in the engine bay!
The car.
