I think they are just more repeatable and accurate I have three Snap-On torqometers and I have three Matco click-type and one K-D beam and pointer. I also have two horrible freight click types for around the home shop. All calibrated by the Snap-On guy. All accurate even the HF ones are reasonable.

Holy thread revival! I guess it's the season for bringing things back from the dead.

We are now in a torque-wrench environment that includes torque angle wrenches, so that just the right amount of stretch is used on the various fasteners. There's a large toolbox drawer dedicated to torque wrenches alone now.

I keep my torque wrench and my micrometers, calipers, magic-type tools in the very bottom drawer. That way they don't have as far to fall LOL

I use a Snap On torque wrench that i bought when were vintage racing. The thought of using a lesser brand and racing does not play well.

Technology and time have changed. You can get these DTS torque wrench or adaptor that use your existing rachet without the need for another long torque rachet in the tool chest. Prices are very reasonable and most are accurate to 1%. Call them for pricing as you'll be surprise..

This company is owned by my friend who designed and owned patents in Cdi and SnapOn torque design. Tesla, SpaceX, Siemens, Oshkosh, American Airline , to name a few are using this and it is better than the current Cdi, SnapOn, Proto, and Apex.

I just received a Digi Tool Solutions TA-1503 (1/2" drive 15-150 ft/lbs) that was marketed as a tool from Dixon Valve. I ordered the tool on 1/7 through MegaDepot for the princely sum of $217 delivered. The case has a Dixon Valve label on one side and the DTS label on the other. MegaDepot had the best pricing I could find and this item just made it past their $200 order minimum. I'm going to use it to angle torque the head bolts on a 32V S4 engine I'm prepping for install to replace my 225K mile engine that has seen poor care prior to my ownership and hard use since I've had it The unit comes with a calibration cert pursuant to ISO6789:2003 which is plenty for my purposes. I plan to check the current accuracy of my other wrenches soon. A nice product with nice features for a reasonable price.

Regards

Mike
