In my opinion, the only way to do justice to the design, in leather, is to sew the pattern using squares. Building the pattern row after row.

It would take time, a bit of skill and a lot of crazy both on the part of the client and the craftsman :bigbye:

I actually did tests in lasering the pattern onto leather. It works, but it doesn't have the punch of the technique I described above.

I wonder if you could use your laser engraving technique (like on the Porsche crest in the arm rest)..and set up the pattern on a large piece of leather. I can see an alcatara (suede) style with the impression of the pasha pattern - used for the center sections of the front seats....

You won't get the black/white checkered look...but would be cool nonetheless..

Laser did work, but the effect was too subtle in my opinion. For those who want Pascha, bold is probably more what they are looking for.

Doh..!! Speed reading doesn't work so well sometimes. haha..In general I think it would make for a nice subtle accent for the 87 and up 928's....over the standard perforated leather... When I see the pascha interior I automatically think Old Bugger....would seem odd to have it in a S4..but either way...what would it cost to do the center section in that style..and then sew onto the seat? (do you have any pics of the experiment you did?)

Why not use different widths of leather stripes, and weave them together, alternating light and dark ones?

weaving would not work for a few reasons, the main being the fact that if you want to keep the illusion effect of the design, each square needs to vary in both width and height.

Well, think about it: You have a set of leather stripes. They get wider and wider, and then thinner again. You have a second set in contrasting color that goes perpendicular to the first set. You weave them together - what do you get?

Should be very close to an op-art effect.

Personally weave to me would look like a retiree's hat or bowling shoes :D ... I want it painted or dyed.

I agree that you could get close to the effect, but then you get into problems for hiding the edges and keeping the junctions closed.
But you are right, that is one way that could work, just not the look I'm after.

It's a good catch on your part though, I didn't see it like that at first.

That is Pascha! The others are close, but this one looks like it could be made of Porsche material.
